Does anybody sell replacement body parts?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am in dire need of a new rocker panel for my 97 legacy outback. It's got quite a few holes in it and I would really like to buy a new one that I can weld in rather than patching up the old one with a bunch of crap.

Does anybody make these? I can't seem to find anything online but if you all know of something let me know. It's the passenger side panel I need. There are holes back near the wheel well and in many places all the way up to the next wheel well!

Probably not. The more common rust point on these is the wheel arch and nobody makes patch panels for those either AFAIK.

Your best bet would be to check with a local body shop or a dealer to see if they can order the outer panel.

If not, you get to get creative. I kinda wonder if a section of PVC pipe could be cut and stuck on there somehow? Then it would never rust again.

Either that or go to a junkyard with a sawzall and cut a good one off a junked car.

My car is rusting at that stupid panel ahead of the rear passenger side wheel its a body color piece

I have yet to find a replacement panel for new gen stuff. So I cut sections of of rust free cars that have been wrecked, but on new gen stuff it's a pain because the rockers have other layers of steel behind the outer, and there are spot welds everywhere. It's a pain to cut off, and more of a pain to weld back on. It can be done, but it wont be the most fun thing you've done... I just cut out the rust and weld new stuff back over it seal it up the best I can.

That's what I was going to do at least try to shape it in the same fashion and put on the new piece what metal should I use?
