1996 legacy 2.2 no power

Featured Replies

hello everyone. my wife has a 1996 legacy 2.2 postal for her mail route. it keeps losing power mostly when she is climbing a hill on her routes. it doesnt miss or die it just powers out like she took her foot off the gas. there is no check engine light on, no miss or anything but the power loss. i have changed the plugs, the wires twice, the enjectors.fuel filter, fuel pump twice, and air filter. i also had the exhaust and catalytic convertors checked and it was all in good shape,no blockage . i'm at a total loss. does anyone have a clue? thank you all

Knock sensor would be a good place to start. Make sure when putting the new one on, don't overtorque the dickens out of it and clean the mating surface.

Check simple stuff first. Vacuum hoses, PCV and breather hoses, air inlet tube clamps.

The knock sensor can cause power loss, but the other stuff is easy to check and much cheaper to start with. Once you clear that the knock sensor is fairly easy to replace. Check out this thread for detailed instructions: http://ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=120610
