82 Brat chrome bumper question...

Featured Replies

Are there any other chrome bumpers from any other years/body styles that will fit on an 82 Brat? Mine has a dent right in the middle. I like the look of the chrome bumper and I'm looking for a replacement.

the front bumper of any 4wd Gen2 from 80-82 would work, and maybe an 83 DL if it had the chrome too, before they all went to the black style....

Depending on how bad the dent is, you could take it to a chrome bumper restoration service. They'll straighten it out and re-chrome it. I had this done and it worked great.

A word of caution, though. The place that originally did mine (many years ago) did not chrome the inside of the bumper (I believe that is standard in the industry, but don't know for sure). The inside rusted pretty badly over the years.

When I had it re-chromed a second time, I painted the inside with SEM Rust Shield and so far it's held up great (there are a gazillion other products like Rust Shield -- choose your favorite).
