November 13, 201114 yr i'm wondering what the timing procedure is for an er27. i know it's basically an ea82, but i'm assuming the timing procedure might be different. problem is i'm in alaska, and the person who is working on the car is in oregon and has no experience with the motor. was wondering if anyone has step by step instructions on how to install the timing belts and ditsy. any help would be amazing!!! i just want the suspension for my gl-10!
November 13, 201114 yr The difference is the tensioners. Requires a tool/workaround to hold one of them slack. Otherwise it's the same. Can't Recall the specifics at this moment. Edited November 13, 201114 yr by zukiru
November 13, 201114 yr The crank rotations, cam timing, and disty timing is same as ea82. The tensioner, however, is different. You have to turn a slot on the bottom to install the belt. The only thing different is firing order being 6 cylinders. The front 4 cylinders rotate the same as ea82. As long as you know #1 on the cap. search the internet for 'subaru maintenance' or ea82 timing belt' and you will find helpful videos.
November 13, 201114 yr Author i know you line up the center of the 3 notches, and driver cam up ^. and install driver belt. then 360 clockwise to center notch, passenger cam up ^. then install passenger belt and to zero to install ditsy. if i recall correctly?
November 13, 201114 yr after you install the 2nd belt, rotate the crank once more to bring the operation back to step one. From there, rotate to the 0 mark and drop in the disty. There are two whole 360 deg crank rotations for the whole procedure
