November 14, 201114 yr are all wheel bearings + hub the same ? using a hub and new wheel bearing for a 99 forester will it fit in a 2000 legacy ? thinking they are different
November 14, 201114 yr The bearings and seals up when they are press in style are all the same except SVX, and other platform different cars. Legacy, Outback, Forester and Impreza all share part numbers on the bearings themselves. Some years/models have different positions for the wheel sensors but lots interchange. Visually it will be pretty obvious.
November 14, 201114 yr Author ok, seems like a noise drivers side rear but did the 12- 6 test, but thinking it could be the rear caliper because it fits real tight or wrong caliper or bad tire ? , noise is not all the time just certion roads like 60 mph,
November 14, 201114 yr Get the car in the air, with it in gear and the motor running, use a stethiscope and check the rear hub to be sure. I recently had a mechanic diagnose the rear diff was the cause of my noise. A second mechanic used the method I described above, found the problem was the rear hub, replaced it, and the problem was solved. When you're in the driver's seat and there's noise from the rear of the car, its very easy to be tricked into thinking its coming from certain areas when its somewhere else.
