markman34 Posted November 19, 2011 Share Posted November 19, 2011 Ive noticed a sudden drop in mileage in my spfi ea82 wagon. From as low as 6.7L/100km up to as high as 9L/100 km. Just did timing belts. Switched 20-50 oil to 5-30 for the cold weather. Can't figure it out. Any thoughts or suggestions? Sorry to be brief. markman34 Posted November 20, 2011 Author Share Posted November 20, 2011 Thx for the replies. I'm filling up at the same pump as always. So I don't think it would be a change in the fuel. I also changed the thermostat to a 192F unit. Can't see that making a big difference though. I think I'll need to change the water pump. But that doesn't make sense either. I wonder if the timing belts are too tight . Maybe that would be a possible cause. Although I can't see that being the problem. The fuel could change whenever your filling station gets their tanks refilled. So even at the same station at the same pump, you could be getting different gas than the last time you were there.
