2002 Impreza OBS overheating

Featured Replies

I'm in need of soome advice/assistance; my daughter's 02 Impreza OBS started to overheat...I searched the forum and found a thread on a Legacy with the 2.5 motor - ultimately it was his head gasket(s). What else besides the HGs would cause the problem? T-stat, hoses, radiator leaks, water pump...these I know could be potential problems...any other ideas?

Thanks!

First check to see if Radiotor is full.

Then "let the guesses begin".

If it's not full usually those HG's leak slowly and will leave evidence. Usually between #2 & #4 - actually just infront of #4 which is the cylinder infront of you when you're driving.

Other things are possible.

Check fluid level in radiator and overflow first. If low crawl under and look where I said. Then look over both sides where the head meets the block for evidence.

They if all that is good there will be other choices.
