January 4, 201214 yr Typically when we would open our car with the wireless key fob, the lights on the front and rear of the car would flash (apparently to help you see it in a parking lot). When we would get to the car, the red alarm light on the dash would be off already. About a month ago, whenever we opened the car with the wireless fob, the lights on the exterior of the car wouldn’t flash, and when we get to the car, the alarm light on the dash is still blinking, 2 rapid blinks followed by a pause repeating over and over. Car starts fine. Is there a problem with the OEM alarm, or is it just a change in setting that needs to be reset?

January 5, 201214 yr Author You guys were spot on - thank you very much. I also found the instructions in the Subaru Keyless Entry booklet. Done. Only thing I'm puzzled about is - what's the use of Valet Mode?
January 6, 201214 yr It's, well, traditionally for if you're having your car valet parked, so that you don't give the valet the headache of setting off the alarm. Sometimes I go to valet mode in times where if it goes off accidentally it would be very inconvenient or draw unwanted attention.
