Driving to work this morning in my 93 Loy 4wd 5sp (single range) wagon. It's foggy out, and I have to slam on the brakes to avoid slamming into a line of stopped cars.

 

Ever since that incident, I have been unable to shift into 2nd gear. It just wont engage into gear. 1,3,4,5 & R all shift fine. Not sure if the car was in 2n'd when I did the emergency braking manuever.

 

Any ideas?

try checkin the tranny moutings, i've had this problem on my other car when i've smashed into tree.good luck with that,

I'll look into that possibility.

 

Something's definitely binding, and it's preventing me from shifting into gear. What I'm stumped about is why only 2nd gear?

look under the tranny tunnel, there is a little mount that holds the shifter up, it fixes to a stud with a 12mm nut.

 

maybe the shifter dropped out of the mount, and it sits low enough that 2nd wont have enough room to throw
