February 8, 201214 yr I'm beging to think your NSS harness is not happy. I was suspecting that with the low starter signal, but now even more so
February 8, 201214 yr Author Interesting. The reader says it's a Subaru code Throttle Position Sensor circuit (High). The pdf in the link says PNP Switch Out Of Self Test Range.
February 8, 201214 yr Author I'm beging to think your NSS harness is not happy. I was suspecting that with the low starter signal, but now even more so OK, I'll bite...what's the NSS harness. Forum search turned up no results. Edit: Google says Neutral Safety Switch. Yes?
February 8, 201214 yr http://downloads.bustedfingermotorsports.com/ Pull your FSM there. Well yes it is a Neutral Saftey switch, Subaru calls it an inhibitor switch. It tells the puter where the shifter is (besides the middle of the car)

I found this, but not sure I trust it: ''The neutral safety switch has a 12-terminal connector connected to a wiring harness under the dash.'' Fairly generic. When you're in there bent over double in sub-freezing temps, the dash seems like a pretty big place to just generically search for a 12-terminal connector.
February 8, 201214 yr Pull down that manual from that page, it is the FSM. Look it up there. I could tell you but where is the fun in that
February 8, 201214 yr Author Laughing...with a little vinegar. There sure are a LOT of .pdf pages to download. *sigh*. Thanks for the direction though! It's good to get a fishing lesson I suppose.
February 8, 201214 yr My money (all two cents of it) goes for a bent pin or a connector not seated correctly. All the connectors for the ECM are in the area where you were working.
February 8, 201214 yr And it isnt a yellow one, dont touch those otherwise instant pillow. something isnt seated, some pin(s) are loose, thats as far as we can go since you know what you touched. From what I can tell it will be at least two connectors

The trick, my friend, is that there are several places where you can get the same information. Edit: you have been PMed... Edited February 8, 201214 yr by jarl
February 8, 201214 yr *snicker* that would scare me without the labels Come on... it's as clear as a plate of Lo Mein! All the labels are one or two pages before that one. Do I have to explain everything?

February 8, 201214 yr Author you're killin' me smalls!! It's all good. I did read a post while searching the magical interweb that indicated the whole thing (with these specific codes referenced) may be due to the fact I left the battery connected and disconnected the wiring harness, (which I did), tripping a fault. I just don't know how to clear the fault. It's my fault. Admitting it is half the battle. I checked all my connections...with the battery disconnected...they seem tight, no damaged wires, pins and receptacles in line. Thanks for the tip on the yellow one...I was moments away from a learning experience. And yeah, I was trying to find words for the picture with all the connections...and I was simply speechless. Now, to search the FSM...thanks for all the help! (sincerely.)
February 8, 201214 yr disconnect the battery and reconnnect it after a five minues (only one is needed but five is easier). If that doesnt do it you can do it with the reader.

Ah...so "Tripping a fault code" can be translated to mean I caused a DTC code to be created...just one of the "Pxxxx" codes. I was thinking it flipped a bit on the ECU or something. Easy enough. I'll disconnect tonight and try again tomorrow. I think I'm done for the day.
February 8, 201214 yr Author Now onto someone else to harass Feel free to harass me anytime. I appreciate the help.
February 8, 201214 yr Author PO137 - O2 circuit lowPO1518 - starter switch low PO 851 - May not even exist PO1152 - Not a subaru code PO1153 - Not a subaru code Those other codes dont seem to exist, they arent listed in my FSM, or on any internet source. Get those codes read. But right now with the two codes that are there (which I only have faith in the starter one) is telling me it is still a harness issue as the harnesses for the car go through the passenger side wall. BTW...I found P0851 on pg. 839 of the FSM...''NEUTRAL SWITCH INPUT CIRCUIT LOW (MT MODEL)''
February 8, 201214 yr Not so fast, chaps! There's a P0851 for AT as well... and means exactly the same (NEUTRAL SWITCH INPUT CIRCUIT LOW)
