EJ22 into my 93 loyale

Featured Replies

I would like to swap an ej22 for my ea82 non turbo. I kno they make a kit to mate with current transmission but would like to go to a manual is possible. Thoughts on how this would effect my push button four wheel drive and general info on the swap in general would be cool. Also resonance prices for and ej22 or maybe someone out there who is getting rid of one?

Second thing im looking for are plans for the lift kit packages I've seen. I have a fabrication shop and would like to make it myself just need quality mechanical drawings to go from. Hopefully cheap. Lemme kno what you guys think about all this nonsense. Thanks.

Definitely tons of information, just have to utilize the search function at the top right.

Im assuming you have a 3AT? So the 3AT to 5 Speed swap is what youre going to be looking for info on.

swapping a 3at to a 5mt is fairly simple. I swapped to a 5mt dual range

You need, if you plan on using a ea82 manual trans:

ea82 five speed transmission, I picked the d/r so I didn't have to deal with the push button manual switches and solenoids.

ea82 mt drive line(or at least just the front half for a manual tranny)

ea82 transmission mount

ea82 clutch pedal cluster

clutch cable

shifter linkage and assembly

flywheel

clutch kit

and if you want it to look right,

the center portion of the instrument cluster for a manual

wiring to make the reverse lights and 4wd indications work

wiring for the starter inhibitor switch(located in the auto shifter assembly)

And possibly a differential. I know my 3EAT had a 3.7 diff for the auto, and a 3.9 for the manual. 4wd isn't quite as effective when the back tired are spinning faster than the front.

the 3AT I had in my 91 had a 3.9 diff. I believe the 3EAT was a turbo tranny

No such animal actually. They went from the 3AT to the 4EAT.

My bad. Sorry, this 3 jobs plus school has me a bit tired lately.

But the turbo 3at is a 3.7 right?

I beleive it was, yes. I beleive the turbo 4EAT was also 3.7 and the non-turbo 3AT was 3.9.
