hey, i figure someone will know this off the top of their head.

 

on ea82 cars, 87 gl to be exact , are the starters the same for a manual trans car and an automatic car?

 

3at auto and the 5spd d/r trans.

 

just curious, have a 5spd car with a bad starter and a good starter from an auto car laying on my bench.

One is a gear reduction starter, one is not.The one that isn't has 2 different body lengths. They will swap though. Only time it won't work is if you have the long bodied starter and you try to put it in a car with a difflock or the PB 4WD 5 Speed .. The vacuum module gets in the way.. shouldn't be a problem for you though..
