94 Loyale runability problem

Featured Replies

I'm working on a 94 loyale w/ SPFI. When cold, the car idles high, then drops to almost zero, then returns to a high idle. Inconsistent, and the rpm drops occur with throttle closed or open.

I had the ecu hanging to see the codes (check engine light was on) and it was throwing a 14. Injector reads proper continuity as far as I can tell, although I don't know what a mega-ohm is, to check for ground continuity?

When i went to put the ecu back under the dash, the car would die virtually every time I turned the ecu from vertical to horizontal. I tried to determine if it's a loose wire under the dash or a bad connection in the ecu.

I examined the board with a magnifying glass, and the 8th pin from the left, top row, has what appears to be a crack or gap where it goes into the board, and when I check the continuity through to the first connection I get an intermittant open circuit.

My questions are: what is this circuit? anyone else dealt with this problem? How do i verify the proper continuity of the injector to ground? anything else i should be doing to troubleshoot this?

thanks

Welcome!

Let's Start with the Basics:

Have you already tried to Clean the MAF and all the Sensors, plus double Checkin' for cracked vacuum Hoses and loose conectors?

Pics of your Subie will be Great.

Also you can try to obtain a Used but known good ECU from another Subie with same Specs and Try with it.

It could have a Loose ground.

Kind Regards.
