EA-82, Check-engine light on, off, with oil pressure?

EA-82 in 1992 wagon. Helping a guy try to clear his codes. he is telling me when the oil pressure goes up (cold start) when it reaches near max the "check engine" light will come on, the oil warms up, gauge lowers and the light goes off...

 

did a little bit of a search on this, nothing solid

... figured someone might know. Ideas?
