crazyman03
So I just got a '95 Impreza LX, and it was my impression that it didnt come with automatic locks. Well, there's a switch on the driver door that looks like it might toggle lock/unlock - Least, it would be completely out of place if it didn't, though it doesn't do anything at the moment. short of pulling the door apart, I've looked all over under the dash trying to find a key-less entry module but to no avail. Did they make an Optional keyless entry for this car? If so, where did they stash it so i can check fuses? -Justin
Recian
I dont think they did in the imprezas. In the outback version i know they did but that started in 96 or 97. Ive looked at swapping in power windows and door locks into my 95. I think the lx had those 2 major options up on the L model which mine is. danbennett2u
95 Impreza didnt have power locks and windows available at all for some reason even on the outback models. I think they were available on uplevel models before and after but not positive. It is possible the door panel was replaced with one from a different car. Recian
Ive seen 97 impreza outbacks with power windows and locks and found a unit under the dash that said 'keyless' also ive found a 95 same color as mine with power windows. Took the fuel door and grille from it. Checked the labels. It was
crazyman03
Well, I found out that the little switch DID in fact go to some sort of keyless module, and there were actuators in the doors - after market of course! I also found out why it didn't work anymore... someone cut the wires to the actuators, the switch, and removed the module. D'oh! It was obviously after market because there was speaker wire ran to each of the doors and was ran under the steering column, where they were cut. I was thinking, since the actuators were still in the doors and the wires already ran, I can wire up a couple relays and make my own automatic locks . Then if and when i do get some sort of alarm going, i'll already have the relays working for me ;-) -Justin
