2009 Forester Clunks and shudders/bad transmission?

Featured Replies

I was driving my Forester last Friday. I purchased it at 40k (we're now at 41K) a month ago. It clunked and shuddered once. Then I turned left and after completing the turn, it clunked and shuddered (or hesitated) 5 times in a row! Trans light came on to say pull over immediately to avoid permanent trans damage. The clincher--either my 6 year old or the tow truck driver left my dome light on. Was on all weekend, battery was drained so all codes wiped out. Of course the dealer can find nothing after the diagnostic. The service tech will drive it home tonight to see what happens, since the vehicle had been running for quite some time last Friday. Has anyone had this problem? What could it be? I'm honestly considering trading it in for another vehicle. Very disappointed after only a month of driving.....

Do all the tires mtach by chance, as this sounds like torque bind.

Tranny should be covered under the powertrain warranty until 60K miles. Not sure whether this is 5 years, 60K - I think it is. If the car was maintained etc. properly, then have the dealer take care of it under warranty.
