There are two vertically stacked screws to adjust Air/Fuel low on the Hitachi. I had the adjustment procedures when we replaced the carb but have lost them. Can anyone refresh my memory on which is which and the basic adjustment procedure. Even the factory service manual gives you the usual "This is beyond you moron, don't even try it!" statement.

well, I just helped Carl retune his hitachi, and the rich/lean adjust is the lower (larger) flat blade screw on the front of the hitachi.... screw in (CW) to lean out, screw out (CCW) to richen it up.

I was going to try that tomorrow as well, idle and fuel mixture... How do I adjust the idle? Is it the top screw?

the idle is on the throttle system. it's a long screw with a spring around it, on the right side if yer looking at it from the front of the car. if you know where the throttle cable is hooked up, you'll find the screw pretty quickly.
