Torque Bind - Sea Foam Trans Tune

Featured Replies

So my son crashed and totaled my beautiful "92 Loyale with only 110,000 miles on it. After much back and forth with my wife I gave in and bought another car for my kids to use.

I picked up a '95 Impreza with 125,000 miles on it. It has a 2.2 Liter motor with the 4EAT transmission. Of course after driving it a few days I realized it is experiencing torque bind. I believe it is the transfer clutch solenoid as the FWD fuse did not change a thing. (I will check the TCU codes next.)

I plan on flushing/draining the transmission, adding an additive and seeing where that gets me first. The dealer wants $160 for a flush and refill so I thought I would do it myself.

I've read so much about Sea Foam but have never heard mention of their transmission product Trans Tune. I was considering adding some prior to draining the transmission. Anyone have any experience with this product?

If the Duty C isn't working, no flush or additive will relieve the torque bind. Save the money and trouble for the actual repair instead.

Agreed - spend $100 on a duty C and fix it right. No flushing or additives will do a thing for you. The problem is electrical and mechanical.
