why is oil getting into my air breather & stopping up my air cleaner. what is that white, plastic deal right beside the carb throat?

The oil is caused by a bad PCV valve. Replace it and clean out the lines and the little PCV filter inside the aircleaner housing, and it will be gone. As to the white plasitic thingy, I think that's the charcoal canister purge.
