I found the numbers for the O-Rings I need to reassemble my EJ251

 

Opposed forces lists the part numbers but list multiple numbers based on some number I cannot find on the block. I found a couple of stamped numbers, one being 175286, and the other is 7314 in wierd blocky letters.

engine is from a 99 outback with #5 thrust and 52mm rod bearings

anyone have insight on this? is it 7314? is it 5286?

Are you referring to the 3 black and 1 orange O ring that are exposed when you split the case halves?

 

The orange one hasn't changed since the 1990 (89) Legacy came out.

The black ones are the same way I think. They use the same part for the oil pump o ring in early years too. I just bought some today if you want I can get the part numbers off the bags or ship you a set of them.

 

14 is quantity 3 and 16 is qty 1. (technically 14 is quantity 4 with the oil pump one).

 

For your first rebuild, I would just order a full engine gasket kit from Subaru and see if you can challenge yourself to use every single piece.

Hahaha. I can't really afford an engine gasket set. Dey spensive! I am on a really tight budget and doing all I can while doing it right. I just got my block and crank back from the machine shop. Did the rear main seals ever change also? the parts manual shows different numbers for it too

If you're talking about the "9510- 9709" numbers on the diagram, those are production dates. Year then month. 9510= 1995 October

 

Rear mains didn't change shape any but they may have changed material or structure. OR they just felt like changing the part numbers. :-p If you look at the "alternate" part number under the one listed for the first year range, you'll see it matches the one for the next year range, and the next one has an alternate as well.

DOH! ha well that settles that. Now to make a big fat order to 1stsubaruparts.com.
