October 14, 201213 yr OK, some of you may remember my 2004 Imp project, bought car with broken timing belt, replaced t-belt, etc...tried to get it to start, no joy. It turns over and I don't hear any weird noises...if the valves were bent, what woould/should I hear as it turns over? Also, if it should or is supposed to start and run, albeit roughly, what else might cause it to NOT start and run? There's fuel in it, only about 1/4 tank...fuel pump or filter issue? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated...I'm moments from ordering a used running motor and calling it a day... Thanks, Steve
October 14, 201213 yr OOfff I feel sorry for ya. I'm going through big timing belt problems on my 02 impreza and I still dont have it running right after 1.5 months. Do a compresion test to see if any valves are bent. I believe compresion should be around 170psi for each cylinder. I bent 2 exaughst valves and didn't hear any noises turning over.
