Ej swap to ea82t temp gage can't get the system to work...

Featured Replies

So from what I've understood is if I take the ej temp gage wire and hook it onto the ea temp gage wire pin 13. It should just read really low right above the c?.... It's reading all the way up above the red and above... Unhook the wire and it'll drop, hook it back up and it'll climb... Can't figure it out, I got sole 270 resistors to do it that way but its not even working....

It's an 88 gl ea82t if that makes a diffeence? Or was ok sappose to cut the wire going to the Ecu from the temp gage?... I'm pretty lost.... I know I'm missing Something.....

Any thing would help me out... My fiancés loyale has the tick of death and I don't know how much longer its going to last, so I need this one compleat so I can drive it and give her my forester....

The EA temp gauge wire goes to the EJ temp sending unit on the coolant cross-over. The one with the male spade.

No ecu wires are involved whatsoever. It's purely a gauge and a sending unit - higher resistance = lower temp. If its reading full hot then you have the wire to the gauge shorted to ground.

That's the wire that says "to temp gage" or is that the wrong wire for that...?
