an SVX all the way to a hit-and-run

Featured Replies

Hello, my name is Collin; I'm an industrial design student living in western PA... Although my focus in school is Transportation design. Growing up in northern NJ, I always enjoyed seeing high dollar and unique vehicles. Then around the mid 90's my father picked up a lightly used Subaru SVX - I loved it... He hated the trans but for me that was no matter. The svx was the introduction of approachable, usable, sporty awd. Since then, after moving to PA, I've had many friends whom have had various soobs.. And for what the cars advertised, I loved them all. Well, recently I had been visiting my parents who live about 1.5hrs east of pittsburgh; and I was out driving and enjoying my dads 2.5 sport Impreza wagon when I was t-boned in an intersection by a drunk driver who then after hitting me fled on foot (what a night). That was a couple months ago and I'm still trying to find them another subaru.. I look forward to enjoying this forum and all it has to offer, maybe ill even find a car for them too. Thanks for having me, cheers

That's pretty neat. A distance of roughly 7mi. Thanks for the welcome.

Welcome to the Board. Sorry about the loss of the Impreza. As you discovered, good used Imprezas are hard to find. Did the police ever catch the drunk driver?

Hopefully you can recover the loss from him or his insurance, if he has any.

Oddly, I've had good success finding Imprezas on http://www.autotrader.com. Worst comes to worst, take a trip out west and look for a rust free Impreza and then drive it home for your parents. Difficult to do, but possible. Good luck.

Thanks for the welcome and kind words. Yes, the police did eventually capture the driver - the court date is yet to be announced.

I've found a few imprezas, forests and legacys on autotrader; but, since I'm looking for them, I'd love to find a 2.2L swap.

There's a member on usmb that has a legacy outback with a swapped 2.2 and 5spd but he isn't replying to any of my messages. Oh well the search continues

is it this one? http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=134175

if so there are a few friends of mine on here that are friends with him on facebook. LMK.

It is! What a beautiful outback! I've tried to contact him but it seems he hasn't been on here for weeks and weeks.

Would you please see if you could get his attention for me???

I'm on it!

I do know at one time he had some health issues so that could be a factor too.

Thanks for your help! He contacted me earlier.. Sadly the car is sold, so ill continue my search.

I'm sure there's a 2.2 outback out there for my parents somewhere

Cheers

I too am sorry to hear of your parents cars demise.  I would recommend, if possible, finding one that is out West like Colorado, Utah, Washington, Oregon, Idaho or Montana to maybe dodge some of the rust that you would likely see in PA.  Could be worth a cheap flight and the drive home to have a car last longer.  If you find one in Denver I may be willing to make a quick look and inspect it first too.
