Hello USMB users >

I just bought a new STI and am ready to get started with basic mods > Who has some good advise for me?? New turbo? Computer? Timers etc?? I have a good contact at my dealership who will, "over look" any mods to keep my very expensive 100k warantee intact.

Looking forwars to hearing from all of you sooner than later.

P.S.

Is there any type of Scooby club in Minneapolis area???

I'm no expert, but from what I've read, the best place to start is pretty much what you'd expect: free up the exhaust. I think the STi needs to have the wastegate ported in combination with any serious exhaust restriction reduction to keep boost-creep at bay.

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=91 is probably a better forum to search for the type of info that you're seeking. Good luck!

First thing is a good Turbo back exhaust. Then some king of engine management/ programable ECU. I believe Vishnu had 300hp to the wheels with that alone. I would advise is going to http://www.nasioc.com There really aren't that many people here who have STi's, let alone have modded them. There are tons over a NASIOC, especially Shiv from Vishnu.

I myself have left mine stock out side of some different wheels and tires. I have to work with a dealership that can be a pain about thing, and that's even with them sponsoring out rally car, and me having bought the first STi that hit their showroom, for full price.

Good, luck and enjoy. Oh, and start searching for a region of the SCCA or NASA near you and go to some autocrosses. The car has serious potential, but if you don't learn what it does on the ragged edge it can be deadly. I've taken friends for rides at autocrosses and everyone has gotten out of the car and said, "I almost crapped my pants!" Well worth every penny.

You could come show it off at the Midwest Subaru meet...as long as dirt and gravel roads aren't a problem you will have fun. The Nebraska Subaru club people are coming with some cars you would probably appreciate and there will be a lot of older Subaru's there with interesting mods.

A friend of mine has a STi, and some of the mods he has done is. Ported wastegate, GT spec headers, catless straight pipe, and HKS exhaust. I think thats about it for mods. The rest is sound and cosmetics. The car is VERY fast, when he runs 114 octane he sometimes shoots out flames from the exhaust.
