I am going to rebuild the engine for my 1987 GL. I am replacing the Hitachi carb. Does anyone have a list of what carbs will interchange? I would like a better carb for my wagon. I tried to order one from Weber, they would not return my phone call. Any info is good. Thanks.

the non ecc carb from a 85 ea82 is the one that works the best

Generally, people seem to favor a Weber 32/36 DG-series (I can't remember/find quickly the proper one).  Redline offers a kit, and there is a lot of info about them on USMB.  A li=nk to start you:
