March 25, 201313 yr my dad got this brat last summer after i spotted the same guy's 83 brat in my search for parts for my 85. which he didn't want to sell but i got a free canopy and my dad got a $100 brat that had been sitting since 97 after the guys wife got in a accident. the morning after he got it he put in a battery and some gas down the carb and it fired up. its basicly been sitting and collecting more rust besides getting the carb rebuilt about 3 months ago. most recently i've been putting in a set of rear seats. the place where we picked it up in the dalles wrong head rest they were just for measurements
March 25, 201313 yr Author got 2 sets of center seat belts out of ea82 wagons which work perfect for these
March 25, 201313 yr I'm jealous of all your rear jump seats you get your hands on over there, I wish we had that feature over where I am. Doesn't look like a bad thing for $100.
March 26, 201313 yr $100 bucks!!! Man I waste $100 too often on crap. A whole Brat though, nice score!
March 26, 201313 yr wow you sure find deals on cars! that brat looks like its in better shape than my wagon was when i got it and i paid $300 in trade
March 27, 201313 yr Author it still has rust but nothing that cann't be fixxed by someone else after my dad sells it . im pritty much fixing some stuff and do stuff to make it sell better but it will still be a project when its sold. got the seat frame sanded, primed, and painted black so it looks fairly good and i fixed one of the individual seat frames where it was tearing but luckily someone else fixed the othey one along time ago.
March 27, 201313 yr Author also drilled out the where the bed covers screw on and tapped in new threads to move up to bigger bolts(instead of screws)which are the bolts with 10mm heads.
April 3, 201312 yr Author Wow I have always wanted to own a BRAT, and this one is so close to me! could be yours if you want to buy it
April 3, 201312 yr Author did this last weekend/monday sanded, 2 primer, and 3 coats of black sanded, primed, and painted metalic(ran out of black but looks good.) installed cut out still need to grind off some and bondo
April 4, 201312 yr Author it runs ok, but runs rough from sitting since 97 untell last year when we got it. it has been started/driven about 7 times since we got it but it could use the carb adjusted because its been rebuilt by me and definently a tune up. the iol only has been changed in the last 2 miles also. it definently needs tlc. April 4, 201312 yr Author I am definitley interested in it as both to drive and to work on it would need to be towed because its not licensed or tagged. my dad wants somewhere around a thousand but make a offer. it runs , drives, has the brush guard, rear seats, canopy, replaced rear diff., replaced tail lights, but needs body, interior, and engine work.

April 5, 201312 yr Author i think it has 150k on it so it needs to be tuned from sitting so long. plus running it more than 10 miles in 16 years might help it get all the gunk out of its system to make it run good.
May 12, 201312 yr Author engine work makes me worried for 1000. engine work is the carb. being tuned since its rebuilt
June 21, 201312 yr Author i have been working on the drivers side rear quarter panel on this, so far i have the paint stripped off to bare metal on the dented part and bondo started. i have to say bondo can be a huge pain especialy when it dries in the middle of using it so half of its on the brat and the other have is on the tray.

LMAO - I learned this the hard way last year when it was 100 degrees and I didn't get the hardener ratio right. But once figured out, Bondo is muy bueno!!!
