best way to fix hood release , the cable came out of the release under dash

Did the cable brake or is the cable end OK and just the plastic pull tab broke?  The cable can be changed by removing the drivers front fender.

Just replace the plastic part if its broken or just put the cable back in.   Make sure you lube the hood latch.
