'97 outback JDM emgine

Featured Replies

I'm swapping out my '97 outback 2.5 DOHC engine with a JDM replacement...the JDM has no EGR valve...mine does...I can see where I need to modify...but not real confident about what I've found as a reccommended procedure....any help will be greatly appreciated....thanks

You pretty much just have to drill out the head and tap it so you can screw the fitting for the EGR pipe into the head, then put your original intake manifold on the new engine.

There was a workaround someone tried where they just ran a hose from the EGR valve over to the intake pipe instead of drilling into the head. Apparently it worked pretty well. I would try it if I were in that situation.

Lets be clear that the longblock and the head are the problem, and you need to drill and tap the head and not use the JDM intake manifold but rather use your cars original intake manifold.  If you don't want to drill the head you can take a head off the old engine
