knocking in my transmission

Featured Replies

I just bought my 2003 wrx about a month and a half ago and its been having several problems since i got it. The biggest one right now is a knock that is coming from the transmission it sounds like a playing card in the wheel spoke of a bicycle. the only time the noise goes away is when i press the clutch in. the car has been smelling horrible for the past week or so and i thought it was the clutch but my O2 sensor needs to be replaced and i was told that if the car is getting the wrong mix of air and gas it could make it smell bad but now i have no idea if the smell is the clutch or the O2 sensor i have no idea where to start lol.I appreciate any help you guys can give me!!

IMHO that sounds like a bad pressure plate, you probably need a new clutch kit.

Sounds like a bad throw out bearing to me. So yes, a new clutch kit would be the best choice.

Throw out bearing would only make noise when the clutch pedal is depressed, the TO isn't engaged when the the clutch is engaged fully.
