Doing a 2.2 swap into a 98 Forester that had the DOHC 2.5 - do I purchase the Forester 2.5 radiator hoses, or the donor Legacy 2.2 hoses?

 

(the existing 2.5 hoses got trashed by a careless "mess-chanic", and the 2.2 hoses are not in the best of shape either...)

 

I am going to guess the 2.5 hoses, as they are a little longer?

 

They should be the same either way. I would go with the 2.2. I cannot think of an obvious difference.

there are different part numbers listed on Advance website - and differences in length as well...

If you're getting parts store hoses or Dayco for instance they usually get cut to fit.

 

The hoses shoul dbe the same though 2.5 & 2.2.

the difference may be because you're 2.5 car in this case is a forester, I can't think of any reason they would be different otherwise.

I think I will go with the longer hoses to make sure they reach ok.

Go with the hoses that match the body, the engines are identical.
