April 20, 200421 yr Well since EA81 control arms will not fit into my EA71 wagon, I was thinking about making some, sorta like tubular a-arms. Does anyone have any experience making anything like this? I have the fabricating skill but I just want to get some ideas of what kind of stuff I'm gonna run into that might snag me up. Thanks Russ
April 20, 200421 yr I built lower arm's for an 84 wagon, they were really easy to build. All I did was right after were the radius rod bolts into the control arm make a cut parrell to the holes, then weld about 31mm diameter tube the direction of the holes and another parrell to the back. Now take measurments for how long the need to be and cut and attach with your favorite method to the car. We used heim joints so you can adjust the caster and camber. Matt
April 20, 200421 yr When I get out of work I should be able to get some, if there is enough light and if not tomorrow morning. Matt
April 22, 200421 yr Author *bump* Any pics of your control arms yet? I need to start making some and I actually did start a bit today but I would like some pics so I know if I'm goin in the right direction.
April 22, 200421 yr hhhmmmmm I will defently have some tomorrow during the day, I have been working alot and have had no time when it wasnt raining to snap a few. If you can get yours pictured I can take a look and try to direct you. Matt
April 22, 200421 yr 31mm Tube?! is that OD or ID? If it is ID then whot thickness should one use? Where exactly does one get this stuff? How bout something just off the shelf?
April 22, 200421 yr I think I used 1.25" OD. just figured since everything else is metric why not all the measurments . Like the 150mm lift and 6x140 conversion. Matt
