  1. Ya know what's funny? I still haven't done anything with the A-bar yet! 🤣 Paul, hope you're doing good, and a late Happy Birthday! Now, back out into the dark to try and get the stuck door open on the gold wagon so I can try and get the clutch pedal unstuck..... 🙄 Mike
  2. well, after about 32 times of taking the engine in and out, it turns out that the pilot bearing was causing the binding. got everything back in, now i'm "fighting" the dizzy install, just cant seem to get it lined up right. pulled the valve cover checked TDC, lined up the marks on the dist shaft, just getting a bunch of backfiring now. oh well, -mike
  3. So Alice (75 4x4) has been spitting out freeze plugs again and I decided to put in the Jdm engine out of the lifted 80 wagon. Holy crap are the different looking! The old engine has water passage bolted to the top of it, the jdm just has a hump in the middle; the engine and tranny wont quite tighten flush together(right where the alignment studs are{old engine had 'em, new one dont}); and it's really tight to turn over with a ratchet on the crank bolt. Has anyone done a jdm swap? Is there really that much difference between them? I'm kinda stumped at this point, just started drivin her again and now this....:-\ Thanks in advance -mike
  4. here's 3 of 4 of my gen 1's. 79 brat 75 4x4 wagon 74 dl sedan, silver 79 4x4 wagon not in pic http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/album.php?albumid=171&pictureid=1557
  5. so does anyone have any info on this thing? the only site i found looked like it was in german. -mike
  6. not quite that easy, but yeah. you should just sell me your brat for the last $20 i have  -mike
  7. stage 2 has a totally different profile. i tried using one from my 79 on my 75, didn't fit. i had better luck with the gianormous seal off my 75 chevy truck. -mike
  8. i love your car. heres my shiny clean orange '74 -mike
  9. hey paul if you do end up setting those engines aside, strap one to my a-bar and let me know how much $ you need to ship. maybe a couple of stripe kits too?? -mike
  10. probably more so than the cops in grants pass, they kicked me out of the classic car cruise after a lap and a half. it was fun to freak out the people with the big money resto rods:grin: -mike
  11. i just went over to g.i. joes and got some gabriel red ryders that had the right ends. got home and pulled the plastic thingy that keeps 'em compressed and holy crap they were long, worked really good tho. wer'nt too expensive either -mike
  12. when i was looking for door seals for the '75 i tried the ones off my '79 and they were totally different. molded corners, and a different sized flap. i can pull one off tomorrow and get a good length measurement. i ended up using the 3/8 bulb push-on type, scored 90ft chunk off ebay for cheap. -mike
  13. if you ever want to sell them let me know, i've wanted a set since i bought my wagon -mike
  14. i've got a couple more oddball wheels around, i'll try and get pics in the mornin -mike
  15. yep. 69 skylark custom, it's really loud thought i had a better picture of it but it's the 69 gto. who can guess what the light blue car between the wagons is back on topic: we were gonna tow alice home last night but the van had a dead battery, so in the process of waiting for them i decided to look for the cause some more(expecting to just blow the damn fuse and not get any closer). fired up the car, waited about a minute, didn't pop. checked to see if the fuse was hot, a little warm. hmmmm, restarted the car and drove a couple of circles around the parking lot and smoke started coming up by me knee. turn car off, grasp wiring harness, hmmm, thats real warm. so i went through each wire in the harness till i found a blue wire that was all melty, followed it to the back of the car. four prong plug wires go through a grommet from the drivers side under the car and back into the pass side. unplugged, and voila! so, my car kinda has esp and knew the the alternator on the van took a crap, and showed my the way to fix it so i could go home -mike
  16. thats a jackman front bumper with winch mount. it's rad:grin: replaced battery, coil, fuses, unplugged everything but alternator and starter..... maybe a different starter, something to do with the solenoid possibly?? wasted $20 on a trip permit for my mercury as it doesn't want to run very well:mad: i think my tax check is going to a painless wiring harness:cool:..... -mike
  17. and not in a good way:burnout: i think my wagon is rejecting the spare engine i put in(daily driver/project car combo is rough)while i'm rebuilding mine. started with blowing expansion plugs out of the heads(well, mainly just the same one over and over till i found new ones), now i'm popping 30amp ignition fuses like the chupacabra sucks goats:-\ . thought it was because of the wire from the pos battery terminal to the fuse block being connected by 2 strands, but that only lasted last night and till i picked up my girlfriend and went to go home. this is getting really aggrivating, damned 32 year old wiring... i've unplugged my stereo and amp, and that didnt help so now alice is stuck in a different town overnight. i hate having to leave my car somewhere, but so tired of only driving 20/30 feet(if that) at a time. i'm tempted to solder in a "wire fuse" just to get her home and figure out what the hell is going on. end rant. anybody have any ideas? thanks in advance -mike
  18. dork, you were just there today. car is not gonna be at work tomorrow, im going through ignition fuses like they grow on trees:confused:  . i'll look in my wheel/tire pile for a good one to trade you for that rear drivers wheel. if i cant find one, matt and robert have a tire changing machine:burnout: -mike
  19. come to work tomorrow and look at my wagon. i'm still in the process of fine tuning evarything, but you'll see what it all will look like -mike
  20. my friend has a 90 loyale 2wd auto and so far the only things i see that work are the key in the ignition dinger, and the hazard lights. we've check the voltage at the battery, coil, starter, and ign. switch, switch seemed to be the problem(power at one wire with key off, no power at any wire with key on). tried 3 different ign. switches, no go. replaced the battery cables ends, no go. checked all fuses/fusible links, still no go. he's been stuck driving his mom's big arse chevy truck, and the gas is killing him, plus he really misses penelope(his soob). any help or ideas are greatly appreciated thanks -mike
  21. i've got 2 80 wagons with the "narrow" case ea-71, ran into that trying to do a tranny swap in ru4x4evers old car -mike
