  1. threeeyedbandit was running a msd 6-al in his wagon, we even built a rotary knob for adjustable rev limiter, instead of getting out and changing one of the set rpm crystals. i bought a pertronix kit for my car, had to return it because it didn't fit into my dizzy. thats when i stuck the electric one in out of a '81 wagon. only had one ignition problem since then, which was a bad 10 year old fuse. -mike
  2. got a electric dizzy in my '75, now that i hear it fits, i'll soon have one in my '74. make sure you have everything facing the same direction when you install as when you removed the old one. when i hooked up the wires on mine they had to be the opposite from where they looked like they should go(color wise). hook the larger wire to the positive side(thats how mine is at least) -mike
  3. he doesn't have a home phone. i'll try his house again in the morning, maybe his wife's work(if i can find her office). he might be going through a divorce so that would put a hamper on things. i've been waiting over 8 months for my bumper, but i did say "take your time". let ya know what i come up with, after i'm done at the hospital tomorrow -mike
  4. i got it easy, open the hood and look down i noticed this doing other routine stuff(adding oil, changing air filter, something like that). usually the smell of the grease on the cat, or collector, is the dead give away the boot is split -mike
  5. this is the EA-63 in my '74 DL before i started cleaning it up -mike
  6. it doesn't seem to affect it in that way. you have more problems with breaking stuff in the rear since you've converted over to rear wheel drive(stub shafts, etc). the only issue we had in the front was hyper-extending the cv's -mike
  7. :slobber::slobber: how i envy you(you too paul) -mike
  8. http://usmb.net/gallery/album256 pics of "frankenstein" '84 gl, 6 inch life, samuri t-case, 31's, 6 bolt conversion -mike
  9. thats frickin cool, looks good too -mike
  10. sweet! good to hear it's a runner. my '79 wagon i bought recently sat for 7 years, new battery, couple ounces of gas down the carb, whammo! runs like a champ. -mike
  11. how 'bout a picture too:cool: -mike
  12. ah, that takes me back hey matt, i think it is time to update your signature "2 down and almost a justy" -mike
  13. yeah, that one is definitely a brat, unless soneone did some really factory looking work to it. this is and the black one are pretty much complete, this one has plexiglass door windows. as far as the coupe goes, it is a red 79, fairly dented up, sitting almost on the ground. it would be one hell of a project, but worth it in the end -mike
  14. nice to see another gen 1 being fixed up. good luck and hope to see more photos as you progress -mike
  15. i've got the walmart versoin of KC's('bout $17 ea) and harbor freight cheapos($10 pair) under the bumper. the hf ones work great for driving lights -mike
  16. brian: he has a couple of old kombi's by his barn, 2 porsche's, a 79 couirer, a datsun something, and some other junk. i hear that there is some really nifty crap in the barn jason: couldn't get to the tags on either of the gen 1 wagons, but they are '77 to '79 i guess, so a fuel door might be had for your wagon:D i'll post back once we go talk to him again -mike
  17. duh:rolleyes: here's the link if they don't work http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=2569&sort=1&size=medium&cat=500&page=1 -mike
  18. i like the 4 bolt flanges, i was thinking about doing that when i re-do my system -mike
  19. it's subaru's buried in black berries -mike
  20. they were taken by a phone -mike
  21. i recently met a guy who has a xt6 in his driveway, and a gen 2 wagon in the plants. i told him i was a subaru freak and he walked me out into the back of his property. behold... [/url] 3 gen 2 wagons 1 gen 2 hatch 1 '79 coupe 2 gen 1 wagons 4 gen 1 brats a few random engines(including an h6) some other misc. parts it seems that i might be able to pick up the 4 brats for cheap:banana: hopefully he'll sell them, and other stuff -mike
  22. we like to call that the engine removal position. it makes it so much better to do stuff under the hood with it up like that -mike
  23. i'll call/text him, that or swing by, depends on when i wake up -mike
  24. i have either 397K or 497K i can't remember, been a long night:drunk: -mike
