95rs motor swap

Featured Replies

I want a turbo motor swap what should i get i only have 3500 to send but i want some mods to.

Just buy a wrx, they come stock with a turbo.

I don't have money to do that if I did I would have just done that!

...then buy a WRX engine to swap, should cost less than that...:)

I don't know which type of engine to get. I mean I know a WRX or STI but what year model

I don't want this to come across bad. But it's a lot harder than just putting a turbo engine in your car. You need to pull all the wiring out and merge your wiring harness with a wrx wiring harness, piggy back ECU, aftermarket ECU, etc. You don't just go and swap a turbo motor in one afternoon and call it good. If you have to ask, it's probably not the project for you. If you're bent on the swap, I suggest do some reading online to see what you're getting yourself into.

Otherwise, sell what you have now, take that money + the 3500 and buy a wrx. They're going pretty cheap these days.

I want to put a jdm motor in the car if had the money i would just buy hello i dont thats why i want to do a swap

I know its possible. If i can get a 2002 jdm motor for only 750 then i have couple of grand for the other mods

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm thinking you don't have a really good idea of all the work involved with swapping a turbo motor into a NA. 987687 is trying to help you out with some of the details here.

I think we get the picture that you don't have enough money to buy a WRX where you are... In that case, I'd take a step back, realise my monetary situation isn't perfect for buying a WRX (or the headaches and issues you're inevitably going to encounter when doing a swap, and they cost money), and reevaluate what you really should do.

I'm not sure what "mods" you're talking about either.. If you go ahead with a swap you're going to be running a turbo motor in a car not designed for that power. Suspension, brakes, trim, etc are not going to be up to the task.. Are you talking about upgrading suspension, etc? Because you'll want to do that if you don't want your car to handle like a three bedroom house when you get on boost.

Already ordered the suspension and exhaust & brakes

most of the stuff was pretty cheap . I only spent 1200 dollars on all of that stuff

What did you get for suspension and brakes? The next thing you want to get is some sticky tires and a good alignment.

You'll be amazingly surprised how much fun it is to drive a car that goes fast around corners. I suggest taking it to some rallyx or autox events, whichever floats your boat. Get some time behind the wheel, maybe even take some driver classes. The best thing you can do is upgrade the driver software, that's you behind the wheel. You can be in the best car in the world, but unless your driver software is upgraded, you'll be beat by a ratty old impreza.

I've had tons of fun in cars with an ej22 that handled well, can get in plenty of trouble there.

I really suggest you get the car completely sorted and driving well with the current driveline, see how it goes and how much fun it is.

Other consideration, turbo engines are more expensive to run. You need high octane gas, everything is higher pressure higher temperature. More parts are going to break and it's going to cost more, if you're already strapped for cash it might not be the best decision to swap right now.

Anyway, just some pocket change from me. Take what you will, ignore what you want, but there it is.
