Horn

Featured Replies

I think only one of my horns is working, and it's quite sad at that. I think something happened to it when my car got hit by someone on the front left... but only today when I got royaly cut off did I realize that it is lagging. It just got dark out now and I have already been doing other stuff with my car all day, so I thought I would just ask here how do you get at the horn?

Wow... I could carbon copy this to my own story... I too have an 87 GL which was hit in the front left and now the horns are lacking.

There are 2 ways to get to the horns. Remove the headlight housings and reach down, or remove the bumper and reach in. The bumper method is the one I would suggest, then you dont have to mess up your headlight aim.

Been there, done that, both methods.

I strongly recommend the bumper method. It's a LOT easier to get at the electrical connectors and eveything else when the bumper is out of the way.

I had the same problems with my horns.

They probably still work, they just need cleaning. My connectors were corroded big time, I cleaned/replaced them. The horns can be adjusted by turning that big center screw. They may come back to life if you mess with them a bit. They sound so much better than the Harbor Freight $7 american sounding car horns.

Good luck!
