August 30, 201312 yr So my loyale is making a funny popping sound under my right wheel well when I turn to the left in 4wd. My car does go into 4wd for sure, but I don't know what the noise is, and it doesn't sound good. Any info would help
August 31, 201312 yr Do you have a LSD or open slip differential? If it was a limited slip differential, it would have LSD printed on the ID plate. Open slip differentials are more forgiving in turns on pavement, but can bind up. You can hear a LSD break loose in turns on pavement. I avoid using 4WD on pavement, unless on snow or ice. Gravel is OK for 4WD.
