impreza engine questions

Featured Replies

I have a 97 impreza L sedan. I want to know what kind of engines will fit in this car. I have found some engines but some of them say, for vehicles with the eigth number of the VIN 4 only. Mine doesnt have that 4. any one heard about this??

also will all impreza engines fit in this car? 2.5, WRX, 2.2 turbo??

and a final question..i have an auto, if i buy an engine that is for manuals, what do i have to change to make it for an auto??

Thanks,

Cory

I have a manual Impreza L (1993 though) with the EJ18 engine,

truthfully though, through the research I have done, all of the subaru engines should link up properly with your 1997 - I have a feeling that some legacy engines might not. but your question about manual / auto engines, that's the transmission - the engines link up to them all ; you haven't been told the EJ20 links up to most transmissions? Your 1997 impreza shouldn't be a problem...

by the way though - I wouldn't mind seeing the aftermath of your work.
