September 2, 201312 yr Model, year and engine type (if known) would be useful information. Edit: Never mind... saw the info in the post tags. 1999 Outback 2.5. Edited September 2, 201312 yr by NorthWet
September 2, 201312 yr We had a 98 forester do this, you had to feather the throttle to get it going, it would stall. We tried replacing the spark plugs at no avail. It turned out the be the MAF and it was cured replacing it with a junkyard unit. (ej25d DOHC) Edited September 2, 201312 yr by MilesFox
September 3, 201312 yr Has to be some sort of a sensor with it only happening when it warms up or in closed loop operation. Like MilesFox said it could be the MAF
September 4, 201312 yr Author Thanx folks. I unplugged the MAF and the engine stalled immediatly. Plugged it back in and has been running fine today.???? Nothing ever just goes away though!! OBD still giving me the MAF code though. Bought a knocker sensor today. Shopping 4 the MAF also,. Thanx again
September 4, 201312 yr should be able to pull the maf from the intake and spray-clean it with CRC MAF cleaner.
September 4, 201312 yr Clear the code, as un plugging the MAF would have tripped it and stored it. Use an obd2 scanner, or disconnect the battery to clear it.. Perhaps the connector was loose or corroded? Sometimes just wiggling a connector can slve problems. Get some electrical contact cleaner and some dielectric grease.
