September 16, 201312 yr Would the weber 38 work good in a swap? The vehicle isnt used alot just mud races, and gets drove on weekends. Its 1980 brat. Would it kill fuel milage completely
September 22, 201312 yr I talked to redline they don't make adapters. Not too hard to make the adapter, people with 2.7l jeeps complain about them bogging their engines on steep trails. It'd be an experiment because I was wanting one for my 1.8 ohv ea82.
September 22, 201312 yr I talked to the guys at weber and they said they discontinued making weber conversion kits for the L series wagons. Dude it talked to was obviously wanting to get me off the phone. But that's just what I heard. But yes different base from stock as it needs to mount to the intake manifold and the carbs are universal. I've heard you can make them easily enough.
September 22, 201312 yr Best choice might be a 28/36 DCD. Over carburation will hurt you a lot more than under... bk
September 22, 201312 yr The Synchronous 38/38 DGAS Weber ... take a look at the Linkage between both Stages, behind the acceleration plate: If Both Butterflies moves at the same time, all the time the Throttle position moves, it is a 38/38 DGAS (or bigger numbered, like the 48, etc...), But if one stage opens after the other have reached already half way open, then it is a Progressive Weber, such like the popular 32/36 DEGV. The Synchronous Webers, such like the 38/38 DGAS are more used to Racing purposes due to the Higher Fuel usage (Both Huge Jets opens at the Same Time), and thus means that if you use a Car with such kind of carb as daily driver, it will be a Gas guzzler, compared to the Progressive Webers, like the 32/36 where you commute with only one stage (with Small Jetting), usually; and the High stage (with Bigger Jetting) is used during deep acceleration only. If the 38/38 DGAS has the Same Base than the 32/36 DEGV (And I'm almost sure that is the Case) you can use a Redline adapter plate to put it on the Subaru's intake manifold. Kind Regards.
September 22, 201312 yr Author Would the 38 get WORSE fuel milage then the stock hitachi. Mine just wont idle snd randomly idles high. Its not a daily driver more like weekend trail cruiser. Would i notice more power with the 38 or not good for my setup
September 22, 201312 yr If the Hitachi Carb is bad and you put a 38/38 Weber, well tuned for your Subaru's engine, obviously yes, you'll notice a Huge improvement and an increased gas consumption, but how much increase it will depend on how floored you trend to drive. Nothing can beat a Good Ol' Boxer Rumble Sound thru a Full Throttle weber carb ... ... Kind Regards.
September 22, 201312 yr Author Ok thanks a bunch mine just wont idle below 1200 and will take random spurts and idle like 2k idk for sure whats wrong
September 23, 201312 yr Author Ive had apart and cleaned 2 times somethings clogged somewhere idk where tho
September 24, 201312 yr Hey let us know when you get that carb. I want something with that kinda throttle!
September 24, 201312 yr Author Ok i will itll be xmas probably before i do lol but ill probably get the 38 as long as it checks out that it will work ok
September 26, 201312 yr Gloyale told me it'd only use more gas without any power gain. You need to increase your compression I.e. Headers cam made sense to me at least
