EJ25D crankshaft questions

Featured Replies

So now that my Ej25D spun bearings and most likey crank shaft is no good, which other crankshafts fit? I was thinking about this is a good time to learn on how to tear down the block, on my spare time.. Also having said that with all the bad press about the bearings on the EJ25D what makes them so bad (besides say overheating) and what makes the EJ22 or later engines have better crank bearings? It seems resurfaced crankshafts need oversized bearings which I guess is the norm?

One more thing the Ej25D what is the weight of the shortblock with the crank and pistons and oil pan still installed?

Have 2 verygood 2.5d cores and a cupple cranks out can use a 2.2 crank but end up with destroked 2.3 low comp motor good for turbo not good for na the 2.5d has a smaller rod berring than 2.2 or 2.51/3 becuse of restroked crank to get long stroke 2.5d have rebiuld many 2.5ds not many problems

I may try and turbo the ej25d since I will be switching to a ej22e with 25d DOHC heads I have an extra set of heads here so it's not like I'm in a rush or anything.. nice to know about the 2.2 crank in the Ej25d about how low does it drop the compression? The ej25D cylinder supports  are a little lacking in support forcing more air in.
