October 18, 201312 yr Hey Everyone! I am brand new into the Subaru game, I now own my own 1st Subaru. Anyways, I Just bought a 1993 4 door Legacy. The motor blew on me 2 days later. I bought a EJ22T to swap into it. But now my problem is... What do I do for a Transmission?? What Tranny will I need for this engine?? Help me please! Thanks, Casey
October 18, 201312 yr You do realize you have to rewire the car for this to work... right? Anyway, to answer your question. Just use whatever transmission is in the car. If it's an auto, swap the flexplate to the new motor, if it's a manual, swap the clutch assembly. Preferably replace the clutch while it's apart. All EJ bellhousings are the same, so it's a direct mechanical swap.
October 18, 201312 yr Actually, he doesnt need to rewire it, he just needs to add some for the sensors etc. But he may need the ECU for it. And the engine crossmember. And all the sensors. Do you have access to the parts car you got the engine from?
