April 26, 200421 yr Hello All, Just bought a 1995 Legacy LS Wagon, automatic, loaded, with 180,00kilometres on the clock. Previous owners took very good care, transmission fluid is pink as a rose. Question though, since it was bought from a dealer, and he does not know when the last time the Timing belt was changed. Can someone point me in the right direction of pics or info on how to change it. And cost, if done in Canada. Thanks, Talk to you all later.
April 26, 200421 yr Check around in the engine bay for a sticker that might have been stuck on if the belt was changed. Sometimes they'll put them on the air filter housing.
April 29, 200421 yr If you can't find anything, do a search on timing belts. There's a ton of info here on them. And welcome to the board.
April 29, 200421 yr You could also take off one of the side belt covers off, rotate the engine around, and check its overall condition.
April 30, 200421 yr Author thanks all, one other question, what would be the best budget minded mods to perform to this 2.2? Would a decent set of plugs, and a free flowing intake do the trick of livening up this motor? I have all that sensor stuff on the intake, where does all that go when you install an aftermarket air intake? Thanks for the help.
April 30, 200421 yr If you do get a free-flow air cleaner, I would go after the type that replaces the paper one in the airbox. And you can do this... http://www.remarcable.net/misc/legacy_outback/mods/snorkusectomy/
