November 18, 201312 yr My 99 OBW, threw a CEL last week. I had the code pulled at Advance Auto, and was told it related to the fuel evaporate, and most likely from a poor sealing gas cap. So, I bought a new cap, and now a week later, I am throwing the same code. I think the guy said it was the 140 code. So, if not the gas cap, what, or where should I look next to find something defective to correct the problem??
November 18, 201312 yr The Gas Fill pipe has most likely rusted through. If you need a good rust free CO one let me know. Pull the plastic cover off and inspect it all the way up. Passenger rear wheel well. Larry

November 18, 201312 yr Couple 10mm bolts near the top which will probably break. A small metal tab at the bottom that you bend down slightly to loosen the bottom of the cover so you can slide it off. It may help to take the wheel off, though its not 100% necessary.

November 19, 201312 yr Nope, just yank the cover off and toss it. The cover is the reason the filler pipe rusts so bad. It traps all the dirt and crud and salt that gets thrown up from the tires in the rain/wet.
