Good recovery point?

Featured Replies

My GL is high centered on a mountain of ice. Three days ago i was stuck again and i pulled it out with a chain with the Loyale. I used the securing hooks on the rear pass. Side of the Loyale and the front drivers side hook on the front drivers side of the GL. I know these weren't meant to be recovery points but i needed to get the car at that moment. I bent the front hook on the GL.

I'm at work right now and have to get the car out after. I don't have a long chain, maybe 3 1/2 foot. Is there a better place attach the chain in the same areas of both cars? I'm afraid the front hook ifs going to rip off the GL and I'm not sure how the rear hook held up on the Loyale, i didn't look.

Thanks much.

The factory tow hooks work great but......don't use chain. On a vehicle with a full frame it's usually fine, but with a unibody, you're asking for damage. Use a rope, and if not, use a strap. You want that stretch effect so you use the built up energy to get the car Un stuck.
