I have a 99 subaru forester sohc 2.5l the heads need rebuilt or replaced ive been assigned the task of running them down because he cant find them when incall ed some of the online cylinder head shops they bsay they need a casting number.Does anyone know where its located.also ive been told that the right cylinder head is known for cracking any one else here that.also what all shiould be done to the engine before reinstalliung it i would love to here from some experts that have done this repair before

Look in the phone book and call a local machine shop. Probably will cost $175-$250 per head if you need to have the valves replaced.

 

Could also check on www.car-part.com to find used heads near you. Used heads may still need to have the gasket surface milled, but will not need valve work.
