Looking for a used Automatic tranny for my 2003 non turbo Forester. Do any other years interchange with the 2003 Forester as i am having hard time finding any info..

Auto or manual trans?

Other years will interchange, but vary depending on auto or manual. Just have to make sure to match the final drive ratio with the rear diff.

2003 Forester Automatic Non Turbo Transmission

The outbacks had a minor change in 2004 where to put a trans from '04 into an '03 car (or vice versa) you need to switch over the transfer duty solenoid and AWD valve.

Not sure when they made this change in Foresters.

You will want to stick to 99-03 year range.

You can also search by the trans Id number on the white sticker by the starter.

does Subaru's site Opposed forces dilineate that change the CNYDave is referring too?  It might show when that sensor change occurred.

 

get that right and match the final drive ratio and you'll greatly expand transmission options.
