EA81 oil pump

Featured Replies

These engines are getting older.  I am going to recondition the entire engine.  Do I rely on a 25 year old oil pump. I have 2.?   Or do I find a new one?

Your thoughts please.

I'd get the necessary gasket and O-ring combo take the sucker out and check the condition. I did this on mine not too long ago and from what I could see the internals were really solid I checked for any wiggle threw on the o rings then gasket and figured it would last another 30 years.

But I've only ever done the one So don't take my word for it just my 2 cents

Thanks Roadtoad. 'Tweety' has won several awards.  It started as a Vw trike Australian built. I designed the roof and has it custom built. Has a Mazda electric sunroof.  VW auto trans.  Chucked the 1916cc VW engine away and planted the EA81 in there. Many said the EJ would eb better and I'm sure there were many advantages but in the end I went for simply to work on EA.  I did have a SC12 supercharger on it but it was too uneconomical. Recnetly took off the SPFI and have gone 38/38 weber carb. Some more pics.
