April 1, 201411 yr i have a 96 legacy auto 2.2 wagon. i work in a junk yard and am cutting up a 97 legacy gt 2.5 auto. 2 things: will the left axle fit in my 96? what parts should i save? anybody need anything from the gt? the engine ran good.tranny was bad which was why it got junked.
April 1, 201411 yr The axles are exactly the same, front and rear, they're also interchangeable side to side. Save the side skirts and rear lip, someone will buy them if not here on one of the many legacy dedicated sites such as sl-i.net or legacygt.com, the hood is commonly sought after, as well as the front bumper, it's support and fog lights, as well as the rear spoiler and woodgrain interior pieces. April 1, 201411 yr It won't be off enough to really notice. I'm running 205/55/16s on my L sedan and it's not off my more than 1 mph verified by my gps.
April 2, 201411 yr Tires will be within 5% which isn't enough to notice. Most of these read a little fast anyway, so the slightly bigger tires will bring it closer to actual speed. Axles are the same, just make sure they have green cups. If they ain't green just toss them in the pile. The only thing to look out for is the ABS tone ring, but I don't think they put those on the axle until 99 or 2000, and you can just knock the ring off to use the axle anyway.
