Stock horsepower comparison EJ18 EJ22 & EJ25

Featured Replies

wikipedia, rough approximations, usually close/right for HP numbers.

engines aren't static - they change over time with production modifications.

EJ22 went to OBDII in 1995, from dual to single port exhaust in 1996, to interference in 1997...from HLA's to screw type adjustments one year..every year in that time frame saw a change.

very roughly off the top of my head:
EJ18:  120hp

EJ22:  130 - 142 depending on

EJ25:  165 - 173 (or more) depending on year.

Check out the torque numbers too.  The 1.8 is pretty nominal.  Thinking of doing a swap?

thinking of it yes. so many low mileage EJ22s in the local junkyards. I've seen a couple low mileage EJ18s recently as well.

EJ18 108 hp/110 lb ft - 118 hp/121 lb ft

EJ22 135 hp/137 lb ft -142 hp/149 lb ft

EJ25 155 hp/140 lb ft - 165 hp/162 lb ft

After bore got to a certain point torque was less than HP.
