OK well i just received this Subaru gl for 140 bucks the intake bolt snapped while the previous owner was trying to get to something. i can deal with the bolt. but the engine turns over very nicely by hand. The previous owned parked the car were the said it then overheated. and just shut off. IS MY MOTOR TOAST? DEAD? were the hell do i find a 1983 subaru 1.8 liter if i need a engine>?

Engines are quite easy or very difficult to acquire depending on your current location.

If you're in the northwest, I'm sure there are at least 10 junkyards within a day's drive of your location that have at least one engine.

If you're in the midwest, good luck.

If you're in the southwest, start scrounging, but expect for someone to have to ship you something.

If you're in the east, well, this place is your best friend. Because the only places that have those engines any more are with the people on here.

And even those stocks are low.
